Company, Position and brief job description: I work for an advertising agency, EnergyBBDO, where I implement and manage the social media strategies for our clients.

How long have you been a JLC Member? 4 years
What was the experience or motivating factor that compelled you to join JLC? Was there someone who influenced you to join? My mother-in-law is a longtime JLC member and a past president of the League. She encouraged me to join when I moved to Chicago to network and socialize with other like-minded women in Chicago.
List any JLC positions held or committees you have been a part of: As a Burton Associate, I worked on the Perfect Pairings event. It was a ton of fun and great way to jump into a development committee right before the event. I really had a hands on experience, literally, we rearranged every single piece of furniture in the house for the event!

In 2012-13 I joined Topics & Trends as a writer, since then we have successfully launched the blog, and I have been working as an Editor for the past 2 years.
What is your favorite part about being a member of JLC? I love the wide variety of events the League provides for its members. From volunteering, to JLCU’s that focus on professional development, or personal finances, to just fun social gathering and Member’s Like Me events. There really is something for everyone.
What piece of advice do you have for other JLC members? Don’t be shy! Everyone joins the League for different reasons, but we’re all there to make friends and enjoy our time with women who share the same passions as us. When I first joined I would hesitate signing up for events where I didn’t know at least one other person going. But after a few years in the League, I realized that not everyone knows everyone. People are always looking to make new friends, so don’t be shy.
Has JLC contributed to your leadership skills and experience? I work in social media, where I am regularly  putting together monthly content calendars as well as long-lead editorial calendars, so making the jump to Topics Editor seemed like a natural extension of my day job. Working as Editor, has helped me lead a team of 25 writers to work together to develop an ongoing flow of content. I feel like the experience of having an incredible team of writers to help us create engaging content geared for JLC-ers and non-JLC-ers alike!
What do you do in your spare time? Provide a fun fact about yourself. In my spare time, I am absolutely addicted to my local spin studio, Full Psycle in Lincoln Park. It’s a great way to let go of the stress of the day, it’s a ton of fun, and it has a competitive dashboard that runs throughout the class which is a big motivator for me.

What is your guilty pleasure (TV show, sweet treat, etc.)? Anything on HGTV. It’s always on in my house.

What is your favorite part about living in Chicago? When the temperatures finally start to rise, you can find me, my husband and 2 dogs walking the lakefront path.
What is your dream vacation spot? Kauai, my husband and I honeymooned there and have been back since, but I am always itching to go there. If you haven’t been, I would definitely recommend it. If you are planning to go, check out my tips from a previous article here:
