When JLC Travels: Los Angeles

Ready to plan a summer vacay? Hop on a flight to LAX and into the west coast sunshine of Los Angeles. From the beautiful beaches to countless restaurants and shopping destinations, there is something for everybody to enjoy.

There are numerous areas of LA to visit, but fellow League member Diana Maciejczyk and I decided to  Surfocus our attention on West Hollywood. Night one fulfilled every Bravo-loving girl’s dream by dining at Lisa Vanderpump’s Sur Restaurant and Lounge. Not only did we enjoy the incredibly attractive wait staff, but the fried goat cheese balls were delectable. I indulged in some lobster bisque and played it safe with a fettuccini dish, but the visit would not have been complete without a glass of rosé. This was enjoyed on the lounge side of the restaurant where we were served by the very handsome Anthony. I think a return trip is in store to find Jax!

Curious about the competition between Sur and Pump, we ventured down the street to grab another cocktail at the garden restaurant in WeHo. Much to our surprise, we preferred this beautiful outdoor dining spot. The garden was covered in gorgeous flowers, candles, and chandeliers, making it the perfect place for a romantic dinner or special night out with friends. In order to work off our indulgences from the night before, the following morning we decided to workout with the locals at SoulCycle – West Hollywood. Not only did we get in a good sweat, but we also spotted David and Victoria Beckham, among other celebrities! And yes, they are just as beautiful in person.

The afternoon consisted of our being typical tourists visiting the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the TCL Chinese Theatre. Here we picked up the TMZ Tour Bus which drove us around Hollywood and Beverly Hills pointing out various bars, restaurants, and other establishments frequented by celebrities. After our afternoon of celebrity stalking, we couldn’t resist the temptation to try Lisa Vanderpump’s Villa Blanca Restaurant in Beverly Hills. In terms of restaurants, this was by far our favorite meal of the trip. The carbonara with pancetta & peas was to die for, and the cocktails were on point. As a change of pace from the shopping and dining scene of Rodeo Drive, we decided to end the night at The Den, a low key bar on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. Away from the glitz and glamour, it was a great spot to relax with friends and listen to various genres of music.

On our final day we ventured to Venice Beach to soak in the sun and stroll down the boardwalk. The beach was lined with various vendors, artists, and musicians and gave an eclectic vibe to the seaside beach town. In typical Cali fashion, there was a gym on the beach as well as a skate park, where we were able to watch some pro-skaters in the making. After our fun in the sun, we headed to the Grove to cool down and engage in a little more retail therapy. A beautiful outdoor mall and entertainment complex, we checked out some upscale stores and listened to live entertainment in the center courtyard.

Unfortunately the trip had to come to an end, so we decided to go out in style by visiting the trendy 1 OAK nightclub frequented by the Kardashian clan. The establishment did not disappoint with great DJs and an incredible dance floor. If you want a taste of west coast living and a glamorous getaway, look no further than Los Angeles. I am booking my ticket back now!
