JLC Travels: Cartagena, Colombia

Cartagena is known for it’s colorful architecture and street art. Make sure to visit the neighborhood of Getsemani to see the gorgeous buildings and graffiti.

The Arteo Museo is Cartagena’s modern art museum. It is a great place to learn about the local culture through the eyes of Colombian artist.

While Cartagena is on the Pacific Ocean, the local beaches leave a bit to be desired. Make sure to book a trip to nearby Rosario Islands. There you will experience clear blue waters and opportunities for swimming and snorkeling.
Last minute advice: Make sure to plan your day with afternoon siestas in mind. Most establishments are closed between the hours of 12-3pm. Since American tourism to Cartagena is still fairly new, most of the locals do not speak English, so be sure to brush up on your Spanish before you go!
