On February 24, the supporters and members of the Junior League of Chicago gathered at the Drake Hotel for the JLC Annual Gala. The evening took place in the beautiful Gold Coast Ballroom of the historical hotel with chandeliers galore and views overlooking Lake Michigan.
The evening began with a cocktail hour and passed hors d’oeuvres, allowing guests the opportunity to check out the items that were to be auctioned off that evening. Auction items ranged from local gym memberships to international vacations.
Following cocktail hour, guests enjoyed a plated meal — a first for the Annual Gala event. Following dinner, guests heard a number of speeches focused on the Junior League of Chicago’s work in the community. The League’s Signature Events, like the Annual Gala, help JLC make a significant contribution to a variety of charity organizations throughout the city. The evening’s speeches concluded with a paddle raise to gather additional donations dedicated to JLC’s signature projects and charities.
Following the completion of dinner, it was time for the highlight of the evening: Dancing! The Band, Green 14, did an incredible job of getting people out of their seats and onto the dance floor. Not only did they play a great selection of tunes, but the performers also joined the revelry on the dance floor. Thank you to the Gala Committee for putting together such an outstanding event. And an even bigger thank you goes out to the Gala attendees, whose support will help the Junior League of Chicago continue its volunteer work throughout the city of Chicago.
